Hot Costs
aka Hot cost report
A fast day-after estimate of what a shoot day actually cost — overtime, meal penalties, extra hires — before the full accounting catches up.
Hot costs are the quick, day-after estimate of a shoot day's true spend: overtime, meal penalties, additional crew or kit, and any overage against the schedule. They exist because formal cost reports lag by days, and a producer needs to know tonight whether yesterday blew the budget. StoryboardCanvas computes hot costs automatically from the call sheet, wrap time and breakdown, weights overtime and meal penalties, and rolls the figure onto the Producer Scorecard so the estimate-to-complete stays honest day by day.

Every hot costs we generate stays linked to the rest of the project — change a scene heading and the hot costs updates automatically. No re-import. No copy-paste. One project file from script to wrap.
