The numbers

AI Artist by the figures.

Every figure below is live in the product today — counted from the running code, not the marketing deck.

8modes

Generation surfaces.

Storyboard frame, poster, key art, concept, mood board, EPK still, lower-third, title card — each with its own prompt template, aspect ratio, and style stacking gate.

4custom slots

Your own artists.

Mitchell ships built-in. Up to 4 user-created custom artists per account — each with 3 named styles, 10 references per style, 30 total images per artist.

30references

Per custom artist bible.

3 style slots × 10 reference images = 30 per artist. Vision-locked at sync time, hash-cached on re-sync so unchanged bibles cost zero credits.

16:9+ 21:9 + 9:16

Aspect-ratio templates.

16:9 (storyboard), 21:9 (anamorphic), 9:16 (social), 1:1 (square) — each with its own safe-zone overlay and prompt-template optimisation.

PER-PROJECTlock

Same artist, different project, zero drift.

Style locks are scoped per-project so your Tuesday show and your Wednesday show never bleed into each other — even when both use the same Mitchell.

The pipeline

Where AI Artist sits in the production flow.

The on-model image factory. AI Artist sits between the shotlist (what to draw) and the storyboard editor (where the frame lives). Lock Mitchell or a custom artist for the project, generate the frame against a real scene, send to the editor with one click. Send-to-Animate flows the frame straight into the timeline.

Inside the app

Every shipped feature, fully wired.

Each block below maps a real shipped capability to the workflow it powers. No vapourware, no coming-soon.

Mitchell — our signature artist style with three canon modes

Mitchell is our in-house signature artist style — a stylistic profile, not a licensed person. Three canon modes — LINE (graphite line, no fill), TONE (line + grayscale marker wash), COLOUR (line + muted commercial watercolour wash). Each mode is Vision-locked against a canonical 10-PNG reference set, baked into every generation.

  • LINE — graphite line, paper grain, no fill
  • TONE — graphite line preserved + soft grayscale marker tone beneath
  • Colour — pencil line preserved + muted commercial watercolour wash
  • Vision-locked against 30 canonical PNGs (10 per style)
  • 55-item universal negative-prompt floor (no photorealistic, no anime, no comic-book inking, etc.)

Up to 4 custom artists — your own style bible, locked

Each user can mint up to 4 custom artists. Each artist has 3 user-named style slots (you choose the labels — "hand-drawn", "colour pop", "noir grade" — anything). Each style takes up to 10 reference images = 30 references per artist. GPT-4o Vision extracts the rules at sync time + locks them as the style.

  • Up to 4 custom artists per account
  • 3 user-named style slots per artist (your labels, not LINE/TONE/COLOUR)
  • 10 reference images per style — 30 per artist
  • GPT-4o Vision sync extracts rules; hash-cached re-syncs are free
  • Per-project style locks — zero drift between productions

Inpainting — surgical edits without re-generating the frame

Surgical inpaint live today from the Draw suite. Paint a mask with any brush, describe what should fill it, the AI replaces only the masked region while keeping the rest of the frame intact. Text-prompt or freeform mask. Same style lock applies.

  • Mask painted with any Draw brush (or freeform lasso)
  • Text-prompt the replacement — "add a window", "remove the prop"
  • Style lock preserved across the inpaint
  • Mask-only re-roll — keeps every untouched pixel byte-identical
  • Inpaint history per frame — every edit reversible

Character continuity engine — same face, every frame

Once a character is locked (Mitchell or custom), the engine maintains face + costume + hair + identifying details across every frame, every scene, every style mode. Anchored to the /cast row + character bible. Zero face-drift across a 200-frame deck.

  • Per-character lock anchored to /cast + character bible
  • Face + costume + hair + identifying details locked
  • Cross-scene continuity preserved
  • Per-style lock (the same character renders correctly in Mitchell Pencil + Mitchell Colour)
  • Stale-frame detection — when a scene heading is renamed, affected frames surface for review

Eight generation modes — beyond the storyboard frame

Storyboard frame, poster, key art, concept render, mood board, EPK still, lower-third, title card — eight modes, each with its own prompt template, aspect ratio, and style stacking gate. The same project context flows into every mode.

  • Storyboard frame (16:9 / 21:9 / 9:16 / 1:1)
  • Poster — 2:3 vertical, theatrical one-sheet, bottom 25% reserved for typography
  • Key art — 16:9 streaming hero, negative-space-aware
  • Concept — production-grade environment + character paintings
  • Mood board — 4-cell 2×2 reference grid on neutral grey
  • EPK still — photo-real press-kit, anamorphic lens flares
  • Lower-third + title card — TV graphics with transparent alpha

Project-aware context on every generation

Every generation reads the project context — synced via Dolly's 16-table parallel context fetch. Scene number, dialogue, action, character refs, location notes, mood setting, time of day. The prompt isn't just "a man at a table" — it's the specific man, the specific table, the specific scene, in the locked artist's voice.

  • 16-table parallel project context fetch on every prompt
  • Scene-anchored — character refs + location + mood injected
  • Hash-cached when project context unchanged — free re-runs
  • Continuity anchor injection — characters cross-scene-aware
  • Negative-rule stack — universal + per-style + per-mode

Talks to every app

AI Artist reads + writes to the same project file.

No re-entry, no copy-paste, no out-of-sync versions. Every connection below is a live data path in the running product.

Shares one project file

AI Artist reads and writes to the same synchronized project as every other app in the suite. Change one thing upstream and every dependent surface picks it up automatically.

Frequently asked

Common questions about AI Artist.

Why "Mitchell" — who is he?

Mitchell is our signature in-house artist style — a stylistic profile that ships with the platform, not a licensed real-world artist. The three Mitchell modes (LINE / TONE / COLOUR) follow a line-first, wash-second commercial-storyboard technique, Vision-locked against 30 canonical reference frames so every generation reads consistently across a project.

Can I create my own artists?

Yes — up to 4 custom artists per account. Each artist has 3 user-named style slots (you choose the labels, not LINE/TONE/COLOUR). Each style takes up to 10 reference images = 30 references per artist. GPT-4o Vision extracts the rules at sync time + locks them. Hash-cached re-syncs are free.

Will the same character look the same in every frame?

Yes. The character continuity engine anchors face + costume + hair + identifying details to the /cast row + character bible. The lock survives across scenes + style modes — the same Sarah in scene 1 reads as the same Sarah in scene 200, in Mitchell Pencil + Mitchell Colour.

Can I edit a generated frame without regenerating from scratch?

Yes. Surgical inpaint live today from the Draw suite — paint a mask with any brush, describe what should fill it, the AI replaces only the masked region while keeping the rest of the frame intact byte-identical. Same style lock applies.

Does the AI Artist work in vertical or square ratios?

Yes. Four aspect-ratio templates: 16:9 (storyboard), 21:9 (anamorphic cinema), 9:16 (social), 1:1 (square). Each ratio has its own safe-zone overlay + prompt-template optimisation. The locked artist style applies identically across all four.

What happens if the style drifts over time?

Three drift signals — counter (every Nth generation), time-decay (synced more than 30 days ago), or images-analysed-mismatch (bible changed since last sync). When any fire, the UI surfaces "recalibrate" on the artist roster pill. One click, hash-cached if bible is unchanged.

The Promise

AI Artist is on every tier.

From Solo to Broadcaster. No locked features, no Pro-only exports, no surprise paywalls. Every capability you see on this page ships on every plan — Solo gets exactly the same AI Artist as Broadcaster.
