How to draft a deal memo for cast

A cast deal memo is the short-form contract that nails the working agreement before the lawyers paper the final long-form. It captures the actor, the role, the rate, the working days, billing, credit, and any specific perks. Fast deal memos close cast fast.

1

Open /cast and pick the actor

Every actor in the roster has a deal-memo tab. Click into it. Their name, contact details, agent (if known), and role assignment auto-populate from the cast row.

2

Set the deal terms

Rate (daily / weekly / total), working days, hold days, travel days, billing position, credit (above-the-line vs below), perks (hotel category, per-diem rate, trailer size, ground transport). The form follows industry standard so nothing essential is missed.

3

Add the producer's terms

Free fields for any production-specific clauses — exclusivity, ADR commitment, junket days, social media obligations. These travel into the final long-form contract.

4

Generate the PDF

One click. The deal memo renders to a professional PDF with the production company letterhead, the full terms, and signature blocks for actor + actor's rep + producer. Tracked in /cast under each actor's row.

5

Dispatch and watch the budget update

Send by email or e-sign. When the actor counter-signs, the deal-memo status flips to 'signed' — and /budget auto-adds the cast line item under the Cast department. /cast availability flips to 'confirmed'. The financial picture updates in real time.

Deal memos sit in /cast forever — when the studio asks for the talent paperwork pack a year after wrap, it's one ZIP download.
